Derek has nine years of international, award-winning advertising experience with a focus on integrated, social and branded content. From globally integrated campaigns to interactive music videos, Derek is more concerned with the message than the medium. He has created successful campaigns for clients like McDonald’s, Heineken, Virgin and PepsiCo and firmly believes creativity can solve business problems. His work has been recognized by every major international advertising award show.
His ‘Our Food. Your Questions.’ campaign for McDonald’s recently won four Lions in Cannes and landed on multiple Best Ads of 2012 lists including Ad Age, Fast Company, and The Financial Post. Derek is also one of the few people in Canada to be a recipient of the Bill Bernbach Award for Best Non-Traditional Campaign in the DDB network. Most recently he was featured in Marketing Magazine’s 30 Under 30 list. In 2014, Derek is looking forward to his TEDx talk on Creativity and Collaboration.
When Derek isn’t working at BBDO he’s found cooking, sailing or riding his 1983 Honda 450, which is older than he is.
