Spring is in the air and with the sunny weather, we are optimistic that we will soon be together.  There is definitely a buzz of anticipation for what’s to come.

At AMA Toronto, we have been busy preparing for another reveal of incredible leaders who have made a significant contribution to the world of marketing in Canada. We are round to announce the 2021 Inductees to Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends, and to celebrate their induction at the Gala event on April 22, 2021.

We are also thrilled to welcome the 2021 cohort to our Career Accelerator mentorship program.  We have 40 new mentees who will be guided by a fantastic array of mentor leaders as they navigate the landscape during these unusual times.

Our community is made up of so many who contribute their time and expertise to supporting each other, creating an environment where leaders are empowered and can grow in a safe, supportive place.  April 18-24 is National Volunteer Appreciation Week. The theme this year is the Value of One, The Power of Many – and it is particularly relevant when I think of all those in our community who volunteer countless hours every year.

In fact, AMA Toronto has over 90 volunteer mentors who foster and build relationships officially during their formal relationship, then many continue to develop those relationships for years after.  AMA Toronto is a volunteer-run organization, with a current volunteer count of 95 including 20 board members working over 12 committees.  Add our 10 Advisory Council members, and it’s a formidable force. In 2020-21, we delivered over 25 events this past year alone.

One special volunteer I would like to personally acknowledge is one that has been contributing for many years and continues to make an incredible impact with his ongoing leadership of AMA Toronto’s Mentorship program is Craig Lund.  Craig is a long-time member of AMA Toronto and a key executive member on the board who has been formally recognized by AMA head office as an AMA Volunteer of the Year.  Thank you, Craig, for your ongoing commitment and leadership and congratulations on this well-deserved honour.

As always I would like to extend a formal welcome to our new members and encourage you to participate in our monthly Marketing Networking Groups, reach out and meet some of the fantastic fellow members in this incredible community. Stay safe, and I hope to see you in person very very soon.

Onwards and Upwards,

Miglena
