Behind the Scenes:

AMA Volunteers at Work and Play

December was another busy month for AMA Toronto with some great opportunities for volunteers to learn, collaborate and spend rewarding and fun time with other marketers.

An Outstanding Agency Panel Event

Rob MacLean, AMA Toronto’s VP PR, led the charge this year for one of our outstanding annual events, the Agency Panel. He gathered an outstanding and insightful panel of marketing agency leaders including: Sean Stanleigh (moderator), Leah Power, Mark Harrison, Mike Sutton, Paul Tedesco and Sarah Thompson.

And it was a festive December event at Revival Bar. Thanks to all involved including a large group of AMA Toronto volunteers: PR team Rob MacLean, Elvina Bulatova and Tamara Dinelle, Dawn Becker VP Events and her team, and members of the Marcom team. Thanks to all involved and a special shout-out to video producer Jeff Powell and on-site photographer Yakov Radyushin.

Seneca Shines at the 2022 OCMC Case Competition

Thanks to our partnership with Seneca College, Miglena Nikolova VP Partnership and Syed Zahidi Director Collegiate Partnerships were judges and proud supporters of Seneca’s first prize winning team of marketing students at the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition in December. Congratulations Seneca!

An Amazing Opportunity: IBM’s Marketing Leadership Excellence Summit

Thanks to the generous support of IBM Toronto, some of AMA Toronto’s volunteers and members had the opportunity to attend a summit hosted by IBM Canada and its CMO Jay Badiani December 15-17 in Niagara-On-The-Lake. We enjoyed the food and the ambiance at the Queen’s Landing Hotel while meeting other marketers and being introduced to Pepper the Robot which uses Watson AI. IBM speakers enlightened us on a range of topics: Jay Badiani (Let’s Create), Alison Cox (Human-centered Design), Tanmay Bakshi (How AI is reshaping Marketing), Fawn Annan of IT World Canada (What’s wrong with your MarTech) and Zlata Huddleston (Sustainability and what it means for Marketers).

Some of AMA Toronto’s volunteer community members also took the opportunity to conduct a full-morning off-site mid-year strategic planning session both in Niagara and back in Toronto. Many thanks to VP Partnership Miglena Nikolova for arranging this fabulous opportunity with IBM.

December Rockstars

This month we celebrate 3 more of our talented volunteers. Jeff Powell, Puneet Thadani and Yakov Radyushin have had major impact on AMA and our community. Thank you so much for your contributions.

Jeffrey Powell
Video and Podcast Producer

Since Jeff rejoined AMA Toronto’s volunteer ranks in 2020, he has become our videographer extraordinaire and a talented podcast producer. In December he hustled down to the venue for our Agency Panel event and shot 6 videos with our speakers before the show even started. These videos are shared through our social channels and provide invaluable content for our community.
Jeffrey is the Digital Marketing Manager for Grant Thornton.

Puneet Thadani
Director Partnership

In the fall of 2022, Puneet developed a campaign for AMA’s book authored by Alan Middleton, Marketing Matters For Small & Medium Enterprises: Now More Than Ever! He is a joy to work with and is a committed member of our community, showing up for every relevant meeting and all our events. His company, Pop Communications, has become a valued partner of AMA and is a tremendous help to our chapter.
Puneet is the Co-founder and Chief Managing Director at Pop Communications.

Yakov Radyushin
Photographer

Yakov joined the Marcom team in the spring of 2022 and is our committed and tireless photographer for AMA Toronto. You can see applying his photography skills documenting our people and community events including some of the photos in this blog.
