Hit the Ground Running
For many of us, August means winding up the summer, squeezing in one last vacation or staycation with friends and family before September rolls around and new beginnings unfold. I was lucky enough to take a moment with family this month which was a wonderful reprieve, before jumping back into AMA activities. It’s been a busy first month as AMA President but I’m excited for what’s ahead.
Amplifying Leadership
In support of AMA Toronto’s brand promise to “Empower Leadership Potential” I’m excited to kick off a new feature entitled “Leadership Conversations” where I’ll share insights from my conversations with inspirational leaders who demonstrate tireless dedication to their organizations, their brands and will share what leadership means to them.
My first conversation will be with Jacquie Ryan, the Chief Brand and Commercial Officer for the Canadian Olympic Committee. Jacquie is highly regarded for her leadership in sponsorship and partnership marketing and will share her experience, leadership style and advice for upcoming leaders, including the important role mentorship has played in her own career journey. Stay tuned for more from my conversation with Jacquie next month!
Mentorship Matters
AMA Toronto has led the way with our long-standing mentorship program which has become the gold standard across the AMA. Never satisfied with resting on our laurels, we recently expanded our mentorship program to include a new executive coaching program which has already sold out this year. Mentor Exchange kicks off in September and we are also excited for the launch of Dr. Alan Middleton’s new mentorship book entitled “Mentorship Matters’ published by AMA Toronto. As a long-time mentor and former Schulich Executive Education Center Executive Director, Dr. Alan Middleton’s book will be a must-have for marketing leaders bringing the value of mentorship to the forefront. Stay tuned for more information on the book launch and an exciting new mentorship podcast series.
Marketing Hall of Legends
Another way in which AMA Toronto empowers leadership potential is through our recognition and celebration of business leaders, visionaries and innovators who have been inducted into our Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends. Be sure and register to attend our upcoming Legendary Leadership event on September 22nd, featuring 2021 inductees Aaron and Ratana Stephens, the founders of Nature’s Path Foods. Their story of success and commitment to being stewards of the earth is not to be missed!
Come Join Us
Being an AMA member has so many benefits, including events that can help elevate you and your career ambitions. Join us on August 25th at our Career Cafe from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. meet with other members who share tips, and hear from experts with career boosting information that might come in handy.
Volunteering is often more about receiving than giving in terms of experience, education and friendships. AMA Toronto is always looking for volunteers and we’d love to talk to you about the myriad of opportunities. If you want to expand your network and your knowledge, reach out to us and let’s talk about how we can best utilize your skills.
Your input is crucial in keeping us moving forward in the right direction which is why we encourage members to support and provide feedback to us via polls, posts and surveys. This month we have a new survey for our members and would love to hear your feedback. Please voice your opinions. They matter!
I always welcome feedback and would love to hear from you. Know that I aim to lead by example and will try to answer your questions or direct you to the resources you need to expand your own leadership potential.
Cheers,
Tina
