You might have heard the saying, if March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb. This year, March is looking to be a “roaring” month for AMA Toronto from start to finish.

Our Legendary Leadership Event on March 2:

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the CMHOL team led by Jacob Kessler and the Events team led by VP Dawn Becker, delivered an insightful panel discussion with amazing female legends and leaders, Brenda Pritchard, Edie Weiss and Judy John. It was a wonderful evening at Verity thanks to our many volunteers and the support of our new CMHOL sponsor Zulu Alpha Kilo, Arnold Street Media and Score Promotions. A big shout-out to some of the volunteers who made the evening such as success. Apologies if I’ve missed anyone.

  • Event host: VP DEI Christine Andrew
  • Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends team: VP Jacob Kessler, Siddhant
    Dhingra
  • Events team: VP Dawn Becker, Corinna Esih, Koohzad Khatami, Olivia Tedja
  • Marcom: VP Linda, Antonacci, VP Jessica Zuckier and the Marcom team
  • Photography: Yakov Radyushin
  • Video interviews: Elvina Bulatova, Jeff Powell
  • Sponsorship: VP Miglena Nikolova

Career Accelerator Mentoring applications are closing soon:

VP Craig Lund and the Leadership Excellence team are still taking applications for mentees for our next mentorship season starting in April. If you know anyone between the age of 24 and 35 who has at least 1 year of experience in marketing, advertising or communications, this is a tremendous way to boost their learning curve. Each mentee is matched with one of our experienced volunteer mentors who will work with them from April until January 2024. It’s also a great way to build a network with other young professionals and mentors. And even better, AMA Volunteers get a special discount. Contact [email protected] for the volunteer promo code.

Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends (CMHOL) celebrate another year of Canadian marketing legends:

VP CMHOL, Jacob Kessler, and CMHOL Judging Chair, Nancy Marcus, worked with an independent judging committee of senior marketers in early February to evaluate the industry’s nominations for this year’s legends and Marketer On The Rise and choose the inductees. Our PR team which includes VP Rob MacLean, Elvina Bulatova and Zeel Gandhi were busy organizing the PR campaign for this important event. The winners will be celebrated at an exclusive gala in the May. Special opportunity: there’s still some sponsorship opportunities available for this amazing program and upcoming gala

MNG Events are a great way to network with the marketing community

MNG Director, Shalini Jerath, plans and executes these regularly scheduled events for our community. They are free for AMA members and volunteers and available to non-members for a nominal fee. Our sold-out Feb 13 event featured speakers on how marketers need to include accessibility as a priority in their planning. Don’t forget to save the date for our next MNG event on March 29 which will feature Jessica Robinson, Content Lead for the Globe and Mail’s Content Studio.

February Rockstars

Congratulations to our February 2023 Rockstars: Amanda Song, Darshanie Mahadeo and Koohzad Khatami!

Amanda Song: Director, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development

Amanda is a superstar volunteer. She recently spearheaded AMA Toronto’s new partnership with Narcity. This partnership communicates our programs to new audiences, especially Gen Z. She is very proactive and has also offered help in other critical areas like our sponsor and partner presentation, logo updates, email automation, events and more. She’s a great member of the team and our volunteer community. Amanda is the Associate Director of Marketing and Business Development at Narcity Media .

Darshanie Mahadeo: Social Media Manager Marcom

Darshanie has been an essential member of the social media team since she started her volunteer career with AMA Toronto in 2022. She’s very much appreciated by her team and others for her professionalism, attention to detail and reliability. Recently she’s done an excellent job stepping up to take on additional responsibilities when required. Thank you Darshanie. Darshanie is a Senior Marketing Manager at Modern Requirements.

Koohzad Khatami: Events Manager

Koohzad joined AMA Toronto last fall and since then he’s been volunteering with the Events team to manage Events Marketing for the signature events. Acting as a liaison between Marcom and the Events team, Koohzad ensures that the promotions for signature events are executed on a timely basis. He is instrumental in communicating with the departments to keep the moving parts moving. He always comes to the table ready to actively listen and contribute ideas. He has a can-do attitude which is contagious. And he handles the pressures of last minute changes with aplomb. We consider ourselves lucky to have Koohzad on the Events team. Koohzad is the Category Marketing Manager for Single Serve Coffee at Mother Parker’s.
