Each October, AMA Toronto marks Small Business Month to recognize and celebrate the significant contributions that entrepreneurs and small businesses make to our economy.

AMA Toronto believes it’s critical for our membership to understand the growth potential and top marketing strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and we’re proud to acknowledge and support the many SME marketers in our community through a variety of programming, events, and resources.

Our chapter is encouraging small business owners, entrepreneurs, and marketers to find new, exciting ways to improve and grow their companies through marketing.

Powerful, foundational support for SMEs

This fall and throughout the year, AMA Toronto is offering training and educational opportunities, leadership development programs, and events all geared for SME marketers.

To help foster small business growth and provide insights for SME marketers, we’ve also created the Empowering Leadership Potential Series of business marketing books. Written by Marketing Legend Dr. Alan Middleton, the series includes Marketing Matters for Small & Medium Enterprises: Now More Than Ever!  This seminal work shows why marketing is a foundational tool for SMEs looking to drive results and leverage the full power of their business strategy.

Upcoming AMA events for SME marketers

Never forgetting small business marketers make up a large percentage of our membership, this fall AMA Toronto is staging two events that get to the heart of SME marketing.

On November 2nd, “Reputation Matters,” AMA Toronto’s first Legendary Leadership Event of the year, will feature Dr. Middleton and a distinguished panel of Marketing Legends. If you’re a small business owner and/or a marketer working with SMEs, learn how to shape and use organizational reputation as a growth-driving asset. Launching Middleton’s latest book, Reputation Matters: Why PR & Branding Are Not Enough, this in-depth discussion about best practices is as relevant for budding SMEs as it is for bigger businesses.

And mark your calendars for our annual Agency Panel on November 29th. This event exploring the opinions and experiences of bellwether marketers from the Canadian agency sector is a “must-attend” for SME marketers and anyone looking for cutting-edge insights and predictions about the 2024 marketing landscape

About Small Business Month

Small Business Month in Canada was established in 2006 to acknowledge and applaud the substantial economic contributions of small businesses.

Today, there are about 1.2 million small businesses across the country with fewer than 100 employees. Collectively these firms employ around 8.5 million Canadians, about 70% of the total private labour force, and are considered “the backbone of the Canadian economy.”

During October, small business owners typically take advantage of events, seminars, resources and other opportunities when they come together to celebrate, learn, and network.
