Ian Mirlin is a veteran of Canada’s advertising industry, with a distinguished career spanning more than five decades. His experience spans virtually every category of the advertising business, and his work has been recognized at major international award shows around the world.
Over the course of his career, Ian has held senior roles at leading local and multinational agencies as a copywriter and Creative Director, and in 1987 co-founded Harrod & Mirlin – a highly respected creative agency known for its lasting impact on the Canadian advertising landscape. Following its acquisition by Foote Cone & Belding, he was appointed President of the merged companies.
From 2007 to 2022, Ian also served as a part-time copywriting instructor at OCAD University (Ontario College of Art and Design), mentoring and inspiring the next generation of creative talent.
His work has been featured in Archive/Recollection: 75 Years of the Advertising & Design Club of Canada, and he is the proud recipient of the Toronto Art Directors Club’s Usherwood Award, honouring lifetime achievement in creative excellence.
