Jeanne Beker is a Canadian journalist, media personality, and fashion icon.
Jeanne Beker’s memoir, Heart on My Sleeve (2024), released by Simon & Schuster Canada, has received critical acclaim, with a foreword by Linda Evangelista. Through inspiring reflections, she shares memories tied to her wardrobe.
Born in Toronto to Holocaust survivors, Beker began her showbiz career at 16. After studying acting in New York and mime in Paris, she worked as an arts reporter for CBC Radio in Newfoundland. Returning to Toronto, she joined CHUM Radio and co-hosted The NewMusic in 1979. As a founding member of MuchMusic, she launched the iconic Fashion Television in 1985, which aired in 130+ countries for 27 years.
A columnist, editor-in-chief of FQ and SIR magazines, and author of five books, Beker also leads fashion lines under her name. Since 2015, she has served as Style Editor for The Shopping Channel, hosting Style Matters with Jeanne Beker.
Her accolades include the Order of Canada, a Canadian Screen Achievement Award, and a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. A frequent speaker and charity advocate, Beker’s contributions to fashion and media are legendary.
