Karen is an Associate Dean in the Pilon School of Business at Sheridan College providing academic leadership in the areas of planning and administration of resources, review and development of curriculum and programs and supporting excellence in teaching and learning. Her focus is on Foundational Learning and the importance of the development of competencies and skills to meet employer needs. Prior to this role she was a Professor and Program Coordinator where she developed and delivered courses including Customer Relationship Management, Marketing Fundamentals, Sales Strategies and Leadership Development.
In 2023, Karen assumed the role of Interim Dean for six months in the Pilon School of Business, and in 2022 was honoured to be the recipient of the Dr. Mary Preece SWITCH (Sheridan Women Innovating through the Creative Heart) Award – Sheridan People Awards.
Since joining Sheridan full-time in 2014, Karen has been committed to excellence in teaching and learning through membership in committees and councils that have included: Co-Chair, Associate Dean Council, and member of the following committees: Student Experience Strategy, Homeroom, S-Sense DesignScape, Domestic and International Partnerships, Global Skills Opportunity, and the Generator Growth Grant Selection Committee.
With over 30 years’ experience in both entrepreneurial and large enterprise organizations, Karen has held leadership positions across various disciplines including Client Services, Project Management, Marketing & Sales and Operations and Technology. She has worked with organizations that included Cisco Systems, RBC, McDonald’s Canada, Bell Aliant, YMCA of Canada, Cineplex and INC. & Fast Company Magazines.
Karen graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Business Management Degree and a Marketing & Retail Diploma. She successfully completed the Queen’s University Advanced Executive Certificate in General Management and completed her MBA with Distinction from the Edinburgh Business School through Heriot-Watt University.
