Independent Author, Speaker, Teacher and Consultant with Sage Management Advice.
His 25 year practitioner career includes marketing roles with Universal Oil Products Company (UOP Inc.) in Chicago, USA; Esso Petroleum in Oslo, Norway and a career in advertising with J. Walter Thompson (JWT) advertising agency in the UK, Canada and Japan concluding as President/CEO of JWT Japan and Executive Vice President and Board Director of the worldwide company.
His 26 year academic career includes teaching at the Rutgers Graduate School of Business in the US and leading business schools in Argentina, China, India, Russia and Thailand. From 2001 – 2020 he was on the marketing faculty at the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto and also Executive Director of the Schulich Executive Education Centre (SEEC) which runs non-degree training programs for over 10,000 executives and managers a year domestically and internationally.
He is now an author – he co-authored “Advertising Works II” and“ Ikonica – a Fieldguide to Canada’s Brandscape”. He authored “Mentorship Matters – Now More Than Ever” in 2021 and in 2022 “Marketing Matters for Small & Medium Enterprise” for AMA Toronto, both available from Amazon.ca. In the Fall of 2023 “Reputation Matters – Now more than branding or public relations” will also be available from AMA Toronto and Amazon.ca.
He still teaches for organizations like YEDI (York Entrepreneurship Development Institute) and the HEC Business School in Montreal.
He is a widely applauded speaker and does brand, marketing and corporate reputation consulting with the Sage Management Advice Group for clients like Pet Valu.
He is an inductee in the Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends; a holder of the ACA Gold Medal for contribution to the marketing industry; holder of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for service to the literacy movement and holder of the International Association of Business Communicators Toronto Communicator of the Year Award.
He is active on many Board including the Advisory Board of AMA Toronto and a founding member of its Mentorship Exchange program.
